Inquiries regarding Brazilian buttock lift recovery, or recovery after Brazilian buttock lift, are quite common. In this gluteal augmentation procedure, the buttocks are augmented and shaped using the patient's own fat.

Using liposuction, fat is removed from other areas of the body (stomach, hips, and thighs), and transferred into the buttocks. It is possible to perform additional liposuction around the buttocks to improve their appearance - lifting and contouring them, resulting in more perky and youthful results, as well as a more sensual profile.

Find out how long BBL recovery lasts by reading the following text.

BBL recovery time: how long does it take?

Recovery after Brazilian butt lift can take three to four weeks, at least for the patient to feel normal again. The areas that were used to harvest fat cells begin to bruise or swell immediately following BBL post-op.

Recovery from BBL week by week and stages

A BBL surgery recovery involves a number of stages that often last for weeks before you can declare that the healing process is complete.

A compression garment is worn

For BBL 3 weeks post-op is estimated to be the duration of this first stage of recovery.  Liposuction sites are covered with compression garments to reduce swelling and bruising, and facilitate skin retraction.

As well as maintaining the buttocks' shape, it should support newly injected tissue.

The area where liposuction was performed may be covered by two garments, in which case it is recommended to remove the outer garment 10 minutes before the inner one, to reduce the feeling of dizziness or fainting.

It is prohibited to sit

After BBL, sitting is strictly forbidden for at least two weeks despite getting plenty of rest. Since pressure kills newly injected fat before it develops a sufficient blood supply, this occurs.

As patients recover, they are required to sleep on their stomachs or on their sides with pillows to support them.

Fluid discharged from the incisions

It's perfectly normal for liposuction incision spots to experience this type of discharge for a few days after surgery. A larger amount of fluid leaving the wounds causes less bruising, so it is actually better. A towel or plastic cover should be used to protect your furniture from leaks.

Keep your skin moisturized on a daily basis

It is recommended that patients apply heavy lotion to the treatment areas to keep their skin hydrated. This will also prevent any itching caused by liposuction's drying effect on the skin. This should be done three times a day for at least six weeks.

Don't overdo it every day

At least one week post-op BBL, you should limit any activity that raises blood pressure, since this can result in bleeding. Short walks, however, do not fall under this category, and can actually speed up the healing process and reduce blood clot formation risk.

You can gradually increase your activities after the first week, but keep in mind that this applies only to some patients - others might require longer.

BBL should begin 2 weeks following surgery, but any exercise that strains the wounds should be avoided for at least 4 weeks, up to 6 weeks, while heavy lifting and cardio should be avoided for 6 to 8 weeks.

Tips for BBL recovery

Your surgeon has given you post-op instructions. Follow them.

  • Follow-up meetings should be held regularly.
  • In order to speed up and encourage healing, stretch your legs regularly.
  • Follow the instructions on your compression garment.
  • Rest well.
  • During recovery, eat healthy and stay hydrated.
  • Pools and hot tubs should be avoided.
  • Don't wear clothes that are too tight.
  • Pain associated with BBL recovery

BBL healing time after surgery is as painful as many other surgeries, but most people describe what they experience as soreness. Usually, they feel discomfort in their buttocks because of muscular soreness.

As with any other surgery, you will be provided with pain medication and other measures to help you cope with the pain during your recovery from BBL.

Preparing for BBL side effects

Some side effects are normal during recovery from BBL. A common side effect of pain medication is bruising, swelling, and discomfort in the treated area. Also, this area will be swollen, but it will be less painful.

While the healing process for the Brazilian buttock lift involves some scarring, it should be minimal and should occur only where the cells are inserted.

Remember that this is an invasive procedure that requires anesthesia. If you follow the BBL recovery instructions thoroughly, you will reduce the risk of hematoma, seroma, and infection formation.

As a result of BBL procedure, procedures such as mommy makeover can be performed simultaneously, as well as motivating you to lead a healthier lifestyle.
