Xylitol is a form of sugar alcohol derived from various wood sources.
Xylitol has 2.4 calories per gram, equivalent to 60 percent of the calories found in sugar.
First and foremost, Xylitol does not cause an increase in insulin levels. Insulin resistance causes your body to store more energy as fat rather than using it to power your cells. This can be avoided by avoiding frequent insulin spikes, which can contribute to insulin resistance.
The only potential drawback is that some individuals have trouble tolerating Xylitol and report experiencing gastrointestinal issues.
Even though it does not have "zero calories," Xylitol is a sweetener that is substantially better for your health than sugar.
Even better, you may use it in dishes in the same quantity as the sugar that the recipe calls for, making it a perfect substitute.
If a recipe calls for a quarter cup of sugar, you can substitute a quarter cup of Xylitol in its place.
Both types of sugar, conventional table sugar and coconut sugar contain the same number of calories per teaspoon.

It also has inulin, a component that brings the glycemic index of coconut sugar down to a healthier level.

Therefore, even though it is not very beneficial for your health, it is unquestionably preferable to regular sugar.
When cooking a dessert with these ingredients, rather than using coconut sugar as the sweetener, try subbing in Stevia or Xylitol instead wherever you can.
You should remember that every time one of these sweeteners is used in a recipe, the recipe is altered to accommodate the flavor of the sweetener being used.
If you try Stevia and like its taste, feel free to use it instead of Xylitol or coconut sugar in any recipe that calls for those two ingredients.
