Good question, the sensors and the watch however are French made. Of all the smartwatches, Withings may be one of the few that that arenn't tied to Chinese big data. On the face, Withings has zero working relations with China as their hardware and software are made in-house.

Does this app require Location Services on the device to sync?
Health Mate for Android requires location in order for you to install ScanWatch and other Withings devices. The only time when it is required is if you wish to track your distance while walking or working out.
How do i know if the automatic afib tracking is on?
To check if the ScanWatch's AFib detection feature is on, you may go to the 'Devices' tab of your Health Mate, then go to 'All Settings' > 'Health Features' > 'Signs of AFib' and ensure that 'Monitor signs of AFib' and 'Receive notifications' are enabled.
